craigslist.com

Today is dedicated to adds on Craig's list. Sorry gents, not hooker posts, although I hear those are frequent and nasty. Todays criticism falls squarly on the shoulders of the person that posts adds under the "creative" & "crew" section on the front page. This figurative "guy" has been known to posts things like, "No pay, but will be an amazing opportunity for your reel." We even saw an add that a dude at a church posted that boasted, "We don't pay, but we offer 1 burrito per week on sunday only." This "guy" is a total jackass. What has the San Diego video market come to? This should be a lesson in networking. You need to diversify your client base with low-mid-& high payers. And the only way to do this is by going out and meeting people. Finding social circles that can prove to be lucrative through a professional common ground is the most effective way of doing this. If you are an electrician, try to meet contractors. If you are a camera operator, try to meet a Director of Photography. If you are in law school, try to meet successful lawyers, etc..... you get the idea. Only you can get more business for yourself. Forget your marketing team and your advisors. That's right CEO's of bullshit companies that don't exist yet, go out there and feast on the free market! There is money to be made, even in times like these. Craig's list on the other hand, is certainly great for other things though; used pottery, finding housing, used cars, things like that. But, if you want a career, don't go searching on craigslist because you might end up working under the "erotic" section.

Stay busy gents
